Ashford Parkrun – Saturday 09th September 2017
Victoria Park held its 200th parkrun event on Saturday with 268 runners and a chicken taking part. Trevor Kay was first home for Ashford & District RRC finishing 5th in a time of 18m:14s followed closely by Dan Green in 7th in 18m:26s and Paul Moses in 12th 19m:26s. In what was another large turnout for the club, Keith Haynes also finished 19th 20m:48s, Mark Attenborough (22nd) 21m:05s, Richard Baker (29th) 21m:40s, Ricky Hickman in a PB time of 22m:05s (35th), Stuart Nunn (37th) 22m:11s, Mark Carlton (42nd) 22m:38s, Mark Harrison (43rd) 22m:41s PB, Terry Sellen (49th) 22m:58s, Edward Rodger (56th) 23m:20s. Claire Green was 1st lady home for the club (81st) 24m:50s followed by Elodie Paviot (85th) 25m:11s, John Fidge (148th) 28m:10s and Heather Johnston (177th) 29m:41s. To celebrate the 200th event Scott Lynch dressed as a chicken as a well as being a 30 minute pacer for the run and did exactly that by finishing in 29m:59s (184th) followed by Becky Hodgson (192nd) 30m:35s and Jeremy Chambers (227th) 34m:50s.
Meanwhile around the country, Robert Carpenter finished the Abingdon parkrun in (40th) 21m:27s, Gareth Darch completed the Lee-on-the-Solent event in (35th) 22m:53s and Julie Foster took on the Weymouth parkrun (262nd) 33m:09s.
Dan Green’s 2nd race of the weekend saw him finish the Great Run Ashford in 3rd place overall in a time of 18m:35s.
New Forest Trail Half Marathon – Sunday 10th September 2017
Steve Hickman took part in the multi-terrain New Forest Half Marathon finishing in 2hrs:01m:10s. The course runs through the heart of the New Forest taking in forest enclosures and open roads. Hickman finished in 955th position in a field of close to 2000 runners.
Wingham 10k – Sunday 10th September 2017
Closer to home, Ann Fidge was the clubs sole representative for the undulating, scenic Wingham 10k finishing in 205th in 1hr:02m:35s.
