About Us

Ashford and District Road Running Club was formed in April 1988 to cater for the needs of, and to provide for, adult runners of all abilities who enjoy running. Our runners, both male and female, range from beginners and event novices right through to race and age category winners.

We take part in road races of all distances, from 5k through to the marathon, across most of southern England as well as renowned events like the Great North Run. Many of our runners also enjoy ‘off road’ or ‘trail’ running which can cover ‘ultra’ distances of up to 100 miles.

Club teams take part in the Kent Summer Road Relays and during the winter months the Kent Cross Country League with these open to all members. Each year we also host a 10k road race in February which attracts enormous interest. In April we host an increasingly popular marathon and half marathon which is an excellent alternative to the big city races.

The Club also organises coaches each year to take runners and supporters to popular events; namely the London marathon, Brighton marathon and Hastings half-marathon. The last few years has also seen a group of runners attending the Hardelot 10k in northern France.

We currently have close to 100 members with new runners trying us out every week!

The Club is run by a committee elected annually at the Club’s AGM which¬†all members are encouraged to attend. Committee meetings are held monthly to discuss club matters and new ideas.

If you’re interested then come along and meet us on any training night. You’ll be most welcome and under no obligation to any further participation.
