A&D Marathon and Half

Daniel Green showed his class as he finished in 3rd place in the Ashford & District Marathon. The course was a tough challenge, as the runners ran 2 laps of the course around Charing, Ashford and Westwell, including a section along the Pilgrims Way, and some tough climbs. Daniel finished in an excellent time of 3:11:03. Rik Holden, after his impressive performance last week at the Paris marathon, finished 57th in a time of 4:42:06.

Run at the same time as the Ashford & District Marathon, the half marathon saw the runners complete 1 lap of the course, and saw four of the club’s runners take on the challenge. Helen Weeden dipped under the 2 hour barrier for the first time as she broke her Personal Best, finishing in 64th place in a time of 1:58:47. First home for the club was Steve Hickman, who finished in 53rd place in a time of 1:56:05, followed close behind by Mark Carlton who came home in 57th place in a time of 1:57:10. Sue Reader finished in 85th place in a time of 2:06:11.

Amanda Bashford completed her 54th marathon on Saturday, when she ran the South Downs Way 50. Run along the South Downs way national trail, and beginning in Worthing and finishing in Eastbourne, Amanda completed the challenging 50 mile ultra run in 11:12:00.
