With the Autumn marathon season in full swing, two club members completed the Amsterdam marathon on Sunday. Anthony Brown finished in an excellent time of 3:34:23, while Orla Quearney completed her debut marathon in 4:56:23. Rhian Shrimplin completed the Amsterdam half marathon in a time of 1:50:43.
Sunday saw the first staging of the Maidstone Marathon since 1993, and Richard Holden produced a strong run to finish the 2 lap hilly course around the villages of Boughton Monchelsea, Loose and East Farleigh in 8th place in a time of 3:35:18. Run at the same time as the marathon on a single lap of the marathon course, Glenn Holliday was first home for the club at the Maidstone Half marathon. Glenn finished in a time of 1:49:46, followed in by Paul Brasington who came home in 1:51:49.
On a muddy and tough 2 lap course around Chilham castle, Jon Wells finished 2nd overall and 1st male in the 10k race in a time of 45:33. In the Chilham Castle 5k, Scott Lynch finished 2nd and the 1st MV40 in 21:26. Paul Moses completed the sprint Duathlon in a time of 1:31:39 for a 10th place and 1st MV50 finish. The Duathlon comprised a 5k run, 27k bike course and a 2.5k run.
Robin Butler took part in the 1066 Way to Battle race, a one off race to celebrate the 950th anniversary of the Battle of Hastings. Starting at Pevensey Castle the 17 mile course took the runners to the finish at Battle. Robin finished 31st out of a field of over 800 runners in a time of 2:15:46.
Lucy Cresser completed a windy and hilly Brighton and Hove 10 mile course in a time of 1:37:10.
