Ashford & District RRC’s annual awards evening took place on Friday night, looking back at and celebrating another successful year for the club.
Awards were handed out for the quickest times achieved across 4 distances, Marathon, Half Marathon, 10 Miles and 10K, as well as across the various age categories.
Robert Latala and Danyel Carter walked away with the quickest senior marathon prize for posting 2hr:32m:12s and 3hrs:38m:45s respectively at the London Marathon in 2017. Dan Green and Frances Hunt picked up the V40 & V35 category for their 3hrs:14m:28s in London and 4hrs:15m:55s in Dublin. Kevan James (3hrs:09m:44s – London) and Helen Weeden (4hrs:26m:49s – Edinburgh) were awarded the Super vets prize.
Jon Pearce (1hr:21m:22s – Lydd Half Marathon) and Rhian Shrimplin (1hr:46m:55 – Tunbridge Wells) took the senior half marathon prize with the V40 & V35 award going to Jon Wells (1hr:23m:48s – Tissington) and Hazel Turner (1hr:45m:15s – Folkestone) and the Super Vets prize went to Mark Attenborough (1hr:32m:34s – Headcorn) and Christine Costiff (1hr:38m:52s – Hastings).
Trevor Kay (1hr:02m:53s) and Elodie Paviot (1hr:20m:15s) were awarded the senior 10 mile prize for their efforts at the Canterbury 10 miler. As were Julius Samson (1hr:04m:13s) and
Gill O’Connor (1hr:15m:25s – Folkestone) picked up the Super Vets award.
Finally, Dean Bracken (38m:20s Hardelot, France) and Anna-Lisa Stiffell (46m:19s – Ashford Givaudan) picked up the 10k senior award. Carl Jones (36m:14s – A&D 10k) and Sue Reader (57m:25s – Folkestone) were awarded the V40/V35 prize and Adrian Moody (42m:35s – Ashford Givaudan) and Gill Pragnell (48m:35s – Brett Ashford 10k) scooped the Super Vets prize.

Club Member of the Year – Chris Boyce
Cross Country Leading Male & Female – Jon Pearce & Lucy Johnstone
Club Championships 1st Male & Female – Paul Moses & Christine Costiff
2nd Male & Female – Dan Green & Danyel Carter
3rd Male & Female – Julius Samson & Rhian Shrimplin.
