After his excellent marathon debut in the Brighton marathon last month, Keith Haynes trimmed 12 seconds off his personal best at the Ashford Summer series 5k on Friday. Keith finished in 6th place in a time of 19:30. Paul Moses in his first race after injury finished in 7th place in 20:35, Gill O’Connor finished as the first lady in the race and the first Vet45 lady in 22:21, Danyel Giles ran a personal best and was the first senior lady in a time of 22:45. Andrew Smith came home in a time of 26:22 and Julie Foster in 27:44.
Daniel Green also ran a superb race at the Ashford Summer series 10k on Friday, coming home in 2nd place and the first Male Vet40 in a time of 37:53.
Jonny Wells produced an excellent performance at the Bedgebury 10k on Saturday, as he came home in 3rd place overall in a field of over 700 runners. The challenging offroad trail course was run around Bedgebury forrest near Tunbridge Wells, with Jonny finishing in a time of 39:34. Also running for the club was Simon Jackson who finished in 58:01, trimming 12 seconds from last year’s time, and Steve Wellsted who came home in 61:39.
The club also had two members taking part in the half marathon at Bedgebury on Saturday. Deborah Hainsworth finished in a time of 2:09:47, just ahead of Sue Reader who came home in a time of 2:10:14.
