Rik Holden followed up his strong runs last month at the Paris and Brighton marathons by dipping under the 4 hour mark at the Bewl Water Marathon last Sunday. The marathon was a two lap course, which tested the runners on a difficult off road course and woodland trail. Rik finished in 11th place overall, and 2nd in his age category in a time of 3:41:30.
Jonny Wells continued his excellent performances this year, as he finished in an impressive 2nd place at the Out of the Blue 10k on Thursday 12th May. On a multi terrain course around Ashburnham Place near Battle, Jon came home in a time of 42:24.
Last Sunday saw two of the club’s runners take on the challenge of the Stelling Minnis 10k, which included a tough hill the runners had to negotiate towards the end of the race. Anthony Brown finished in 23rd place overall in a time of 43:18, and Kate Williams was the 8th lady finisher in a time of 50:23.
There was a large turnout of the club’s runner’s at the latest Ashford parkrun. Daniel Green was first home in 3rd place in 18:23, Chris Boyce 5th in 18:52, Dean Bracken 6th in 18:58, Pat Butler 8th in 19:33, Richard Baker 9th in 19:35(PB), Keith Haynes 12th in 19:50, Rob Carpenter 14th in 19:53. Mark Attenborough finished in 20:57, Scott Lynch in 21:56, Dave Hunt 22:20(PB), Rhian Shrimplin in 23:39, Danyel Giles in 23:56, John Fidge in 24:33, Lisa Bracken in 24:40, Sue Reader in 26:37, Will Whittington in 27:05(PB), Julie Foster in 29:00 and Ann Fidge in 29:23.
