A coachload from A&D travelled to Brighton on a bright sunny morning last Sunday for what is fast becoming the UK’s second biggest marathon. Seven club members completed the distance with at least the same number supporting them to the finish line. Kevan James’s training paid off as he stormed home in 2:54:17; 5th in his age category at such a prestigious event is something to be proud of! Rob Butler finished some way back from that in 3:17:08. Meanwhile a battle was developing a few miles back between four of our runners; Steve Hickman had the final say finishing in 3:54:05, Neil Buckley (on no training) broke four hours in 3:59:06, Amanda Bashford absolutely smashed her PB in 4:03:34 and Edward Rodger completed the quartet in 4:14:32. Lucy Cresser, running her first ever marathon, came home in a creditable 5:05:09 after suffering severe cramp in the latter stages. A big well done to both runners and supporters and good luck to those running London in just over a week! Lastly it’ll be good to see as many club members at Sandyacres this Sunday at 8am for the inaugural running of our half marathon and marathon event!
