With many of the club’s runners well into their Spring marathon training, Sunday 24th Jan saw a chance to test out how their training was progressing with several taking part in the Canterbury 10 mile race. A large field of over 1100 runner on a testing and hilly course, Kate Williams produced a Personal Best performance as she came home in an excellent time of 1:29:16. Richard Baker was the first club runner home as he finished in a time of 1:11:03 and 193rd place. Very close behind him was Mark Attenborough, who came home in 1:11:22 and 204th place, followed by Christine Costiff who finished 14th in her age category in a time of 1:15:20. Stu Nunn, despite suffering from a recent injury did well to come home in 1:27:14 and 653rd place, and Kirsty Farrant produced a PB as she came home in 1:39:13.
Jeremy Chambers produced a personal best in the Dymchurch marathon on the Saturday as he knocked an impressive 18 minutes from his previous best marathon time, finishing in 5:34:58. Steve Hickman, despite suffering from illness still produced another excellent run as he finished his 123rd marathon in a time of 4:27:14. Amanda Bashford continued her busy month of marathon running as she completed her 40th marathon in a time of 4:40:24.
