A busy weekend for club members attending various races over the weekend.
Daniel Green finished in 8th place overall and 2nd in his category of Male Vet at the Rye Classic Series 10K on Friday 11 July. A time of 37m:06s
Robert Carpenter gained in 2nd place in a time of 18m:48s! and Keith Haynes in 8th place in a time of 21m:03s Park Run Ashford (Victoria Park) Saturday 12 July – well done
On Saturday 12 July the Ranscombe Challenge 30.55 miles trail and woodland race follows trails and footpaths on the Ranscombe Farm Reserve in Cuxton, Rochester. Amanda Bashford and Helen Weeden both finished together in joint 15th position in a time of 6h:57m:14s, they finished well before the 8 hour limit – well done girls!
British 10K London Run Sunday 13 July
This iconic route starts on Piccadilly outside The Guards & Calvary Club, passing the new WW2 Bomber Command Memorial which was unveiled by HM Queen Elizabeth 11 in June 2012. Runners pass by The Ritz, St. James’s Palace, Trafalgar Square, the magnificent St. Paul’s Cathedral, the unique London Eye, the worlds most famous clock Big Ben, the British Houses of Parliament, the historic Westminster Abbey before finishing on Whitehall at the junction of Royal Horse Guards and Banqueting House after passing Downing Street and The Cenotaph, the national memorial to those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country. This race was completed by Lucy Cresser with a personal best time of 54m:14s.
On Sunday 13 July Phil Basher completed the Herne Bay 10K course in a time of 48m:43s in 65th place
Also on Sunday 13th July, there was the 50 Mile Challenge race which starts at Chislet near Canterbury at 6:00am and actually covers 52.4 miles. This was completed by Gary Sage, who completed the course in difficult underfoot conditions made even worse following three downpours of rain! Gary finished in 4th position achieving a personal best time of 9h:01m!
