Saturday saw three of the club’s runners take on the challenge of the Country to Capital Ultra race. This was the first race on this year’s ultra race calendar and is one of the premier ultra races in the country. The runners have to run a course of 45 miles starting in Wendover and after running through the Buckinghamshire countryside, takes the runners into London along the Grand Union tow path, and a finish in Little Venice. It was run in tough conditions with the recent poor weather making the course exceptionally hard to navigate and with heavy rain and snow showers during the run. First of the runners home was Darren Santer, who ran an excellent time of 7:31:56, followed home by Helen Weeden in 10:35:48, and close behind, Edward Rodger in 10:35:53.
At the latest Ashford parkrun on Saturday, Daniel Green was first home for the club in 2nd place and 1st MV40 in a time of 18:40, followed by Dean Bracken in 6th place in 20:03, Paul Moses 7th in 20:11, Shane Dragwidge 9th in 20:39, Scott Lynch 11th in 20:42, and Mark Attenborough 24th in 21:44. Mark Carlton ran a personal best finishing 39th in 23:19, Danyel Carter was the 3rd lady in 23:41, Dave Hunt finished in 23:49, William Whittington in 25:05, John Fidge was first in his age category in 26:19, Trevor Kay in 26:33, Paul Bailey in 27:21, Steve Hickman in 30:14, Ann Fidge was first in her age category in 30:35 and Julie Foster in 31:55.
