Sunday saw several of the club’s members brave the cold weather to compete around the country. Close to home, Kate Williams ran an excellent race in the Deal 5 miler, completing the course as the 20th lady finisher in a time of 39:49. Jon Wells travelled to Leeds to take part in the Abbey dash 10k, which had a strong field of over 8600 runners, and the top 14 finishers all dipping under 30 minutes. Despite not being fully fit, Jon put in a strong performance to finish in 41:07 and 737th place.
Robert Latala produced an impressive performance in the latest Ashford parkrun on Saturday. After his recent personal best and 2nd place at the Givaudan 10k, he finished in 1st place in a time of 16:44, with Dan Green the next club member home with an 8th place finish in 19:48. Shane Dragwidge continued his excellent recent form with another personal best as he came home in 11th place in 20:37, just ahead of Paul Moses in 20:39 with a 12th place and 1st in his age group. Pat Butler also finished 1st in his age group as he finished 24th in 21:34, with Gill O’Connor taking the lady V55 course record with her time of 21:44(pb). Richard Baker made a welcome return to racing after injury with a 28th place finish of 21:52, Terry Sellen ran a personal best of 22:14, Mark Attenborough finished in 22:31, Stu Nunn in 23:44. John Fidge finished in 24:31 to give him 1st in his age group, Claire Green finished as the 10th lady in 26:06, Sue Reader in 27:08 and Simon Jackson in 42:44.
