The club had a large turnout for the Demelza 10k on Sunday 20th September. Run in the grounds of Leeds castle on a hilly course, Dean Bracken was first home as he finished 4th in a time of 40:47. Anthony Brown continued his impressive improvement as he finished in 8th place in a time of 44:10. Ben Smith came home in 20th place and the first junior as he finished in an excellent time of 46:26. Rhian Shrimplin was the 9th lady home in a time of 51:11, followed by Toby Calnan in 55:36, Deborah Hainsworth in 58:09, Stuart Nunn in 59:15 and Andrew Smith in 64:15. Emily Foster had a strong run in her debut 10k race as she came home in 85:45, and Julie Foster duly finished in 85:48.
Amanda Bashford took on the physically and mentally tough challenge of the Equinox 24 on the Saturday before. Set in the grounds of Belvoir Castle Estate in Leicestershire, the Equinox 24 is a 24 hour multi-terrain race against the clock to complete as many kilometres as possible in 24 hours. Amanda ran a hugely impressive 120km and finished as the 13th lady.
Also on the Sunday, Keith Haynes run the unique one off 10k race along the new Bexhill to Hastings link road before it opens to the public. In hot conditions and on a very undulating course in a field of over 1000 runners, Haynes finished in 48th place and 7th in his age category in a time of 42:40.
Richard Baker marked his return from injury with a impressive run in the Faversham 10k on Sunday. He finished 21st in a time of 41:52. Rachel Grout also ran well to record a time of 50m:19s.
