Girlings Solicitors Ashford & District 10k – Sunday 04th February 2018
The 30th running of the Ashford & District 10k will remain a memorable event, not only because of the changeable weather the runners had to contend with on the day but also a close finish with the top 7 finishers all within 30 seconds of each other.
The weather was interchangeable. Sun, rain, sleet, snow and wind made for difficult conditions with Ben Hughes of Medway & Maidstone AC winning the race in 33m:07s with last year’s winner Robert Latala of Ashford & District RRC finishing 3rd in 33m:13s.
Jon Pearce finished 11th for the club in 35m:10s with Carl Jones and CJ Lattimer close behind in 36m:13s (14th) and 36m:15s (15th) respectively. Trevor Kay crossed the line next for the club in 37m:59s (19th).
Christine Costiff was 1st lady home for A&D in 44m:39s (80th) with Anna-Lisa Stiffell just behind in a personal best time of 44m:52s (85th), Michael Hall in 45m:28s (92nd) and Gill Pragnell in 45m:38s (94th).
Mark Boorer finished in 47m:38s (132nd), Will Whittington in 48m:09s (137th), James Phillips in 50m:36s (189th) and Keith Lynn in 58m:20s (362nd). 567 runners completed the course in this is ever-popular race.
Thames Trot – Saturday 3rd February 2018
Edward Rodger completed the 50 mile Thames Trot on Sunday. The course which runs alongside the Thames, utilising the towpaths and bridleways from Oxford to Henley, proved to be one of the hardest races the experienced Ultra runner has faced, finishing in 10hrs:59m:50s, just before the 11 hour cut-off time.
Ryde 10 –Sunday 04th February 2018
Steve Hickman took on the hill Ryde 10 miler on Sunday completing the race in 1hr:32m:41s.
Ashford Parkrun – Saturday 03rd February 2018
The latest parkrun finished with 3 Ashford & District RRC runners in the top 10 with Julius Samson taking top honours by finishing 3rd in a personal best time of 18m:47s. Jon Wells followed in 6th with a time of 19m:12s and Paul Moses just behind in 19m:37s (7th).
Dan Green crossed the line in 20m:23s (11th) and Carl Ireland just shy of his personal best at this distance in 21m:12s (17th). Dean Bracken finished in 21m:26s (22nd), Ricky Hickman in 21m:34s (23rd) and Elodie Paviot finished as 1st lady and in a personal best of 22m:13s in 29th.
Danyel Carter was next up in 22m:24s (32nd), James Chapman in 22m:32s (35th) and Aaron Homewood in a personal best of 22m:34s (36th). Scott Lynch followed in 22m:41s (39th), Rod Kessack in 23m:34s (46th), Mark Boorer 23m:35s (47th), Pat Butler 23m:57s (52nd), Sarah Homewood 28m:05s (115th) and Julie Foster in 39m:55s (216th).
Meanwhile Anthony Brown completed the Folkestone parkrun in 21m:29s finishing 18th.
