Givaudan 10k – Sunday 08th October 2017
With almost 40 entrants from Ashford & District RRC (one of the largest club turnouts in memory), the course was awash with blue as many personal best performances were achieved. On what was a warmer day than expected Trevor Kay came home 1st for the club in 10th position in 36m:03s, agonisingly just 4 seconds off a personal best with Daniel Green 25th in 37m:48s and Julius Samson 40th in 38m:28s. All three performances contributed in winning the Kent Championship Senior Road Short Course Bronze team medal.
Paul Moses finished closely behind in 48th in 38m:43s and Ryan Edwards in a PB time of 39m:34s in 59th. Mark Attenborough also achieved a personal best finishing in 40m:52s, Rob Barton in 40m:58s, Keith Haynes 41m:14s, Adrian Moody 42m:35s and Stuart Nunn in a personal best of 44m:12s.
The first female home for the club was ladies club captain, Danyel Carter in 44m:14s, Hazel Turner PB’d in 44m:48s, Mark Harrison 45m:35s, Jon Wiles 46m:33s and Anna-Lisa Stiffell with a PB time of 46m:19s.
Christine Costiff picked up a Kent Championship silver medal in the womens Vet55 category in a time of 46m:32s, Carl Ireland finished in 47m:51s, Aaron Homewood gained a personal best crossing the line in 48m:07s, Mark Carlton in 48m:14s, Dean Bracken 48m:16s, Filiz Salih 48m:54s, Elodie Paviot in a personal best of 49m:03s, Rod Kessack 49m:32s and Kevan James 50m:44s.
Neil Hope achieved a personal best of 50m:58s for this distance, Jaclyn Kay in 52m:42s, Matt Skipper 54m:43s, Sophie Edmonds completed the course in a personal best of 55m:41s, Sandra Mortimer 56m:51s and Sarah Homewood in a PB of 57m:50s.
Andrew Smith 58m:07s and Ellen Willis in a PB time of 59m:39s just dipped in under the hour mark. Ann Fidge in 01hr:01m:10s, Steve Wellsted 01hr:03m:57s, Becky Hodgson 01hr:03m:39s, Jeremy Chambers 01hr:06m:45s, Sarah Ashberry 01hr:07m:31s, Dave Hunt 01hr:18m:27s and Julie Foster completed a busy day for the club in 01hr:19m:52s.
Chicago Marathon – Sunday 08th October 2017
On his 50th birthday, Men’s Club Captain Scott Lynch travelled to the USA to run the Chicago Marathon. On what turned out to be a warm day in the windy city, Lynch completed the marathon in an impressive time of 03hrs:17m:52s which qualifies him for a ‘good for age’ place at the Boston Marathon.
Tissington Trail Half Marathon – Saturday 07th October 2017
Jon Wells continued his impressive run of podium finishes (3rd top 3 finishes in 4 weeks) with a 3rd place finish at the Tissington Trail Half Marathon in Derbyshire. The race takes place along a former railway line from Parsley Hay to Ashbourne with Wells finishing in a personal best of 1hr:23m:50s .
Royal Parks Half Marathon – Sunday 8th October 2017
Luke Kadinopoulos and Lucy Johnstone took part in the Royal Parks Half Marathon set within Hyde Park. Kadinopoulos finished in 02hrs:10m:59s and Johnstone, completing her 1st Half Marathon crossed the line shortly after in 02hrs:15m:03s.
Ashford Parkrun – Saturday 07th October 2017
Robert Latala won the latest Parkrun event in a time of 17m:17s with Ricky Hickman finishing 2nd for the club in a PB of 22m:00s (27th) closely followed by Pat Butler in 22m:11s (29th). James Chapman finished in 22m:44s (32nd), Rod Kessack 23m:01s (34th), Dean Bracken and Paul Moses finished in 23m:16s (39th and 40th respectively). William Whittington crossed the line in 25m:20s (62nd) with Raymond Morley in 36m:24s (163rd) and Becky Hodgson 36m:48s (166th) .
