A great day was had by all club members at this year’s Hardelot 10k in France. For some of us pre-race breakfast consisted of a full English on the ferry crossing, not the greatest race prep but we were on hols if only for the day! Arriving in Hardelot with an hour to go before the start seemed like perfect timing. 12 club members took part with some fine performances; CJ Lattimer was first home for the club in a PB time of 37:37 closely followed by Rob Carpenter in 37:46, Rob Butler in 38:29, Chris Boyce 40:03, Dean Bracken 42:20 and Ed Rodger in 46:24. First home for the ladies was Katie McCarter in 48:20 with Lucy Cresser not far behind in 49:27, Lucy smashing her PB by almost 5 minutes. Other times were Steve Hickman in 49:54, Helen Weeden 54:38, Julie Foster 56:39 whilst a big cheer was reserved for Roger Barwick coming home in 1:07:30. CJ and Katie took the 1st international male and female trophies respectively although there was some doubt over the ladies award much to the amusement of everyone else. Needless to say drinks and dinner were followed by more beer on the ferry and let’s just say there was never a dull moment! Bring on next year!
We should also mention Jo Faux who couldn’t make the trip and ran the Charing 10k instead finishing third lady in a time of 46:32, just a few seconds off her PB!
