Ashford & District RRC completed a clean sweep of international honours at the Hardelot 10k in Northern France on Saturday afternoon. The picturesque town held host to over 550 runners with Ashford & District fielding a team of 20 members, which saw men’s club captain, Scott Lynch, pick up the team prize.
Trevor Kay was first home in 36m:41s, finishing in 21st place overall and winning the 1st International male prize. Daneyl Carter picked up the 1st International female prize with a personal best of 43m:09s in 130th. Dean Bracken finished in a seasons best of 38m:20s, 35th overall and just ahead of Scott Lynch in 38m:29s (39th). Richard Baker followed with a time of 41m:12s (77th) with Chris Boyce (93rd) and Mark Attenborough (95th) in 41m:51s and 41m:53s respectively. Adrian Moody completed the course in 43m:39s (137th), Hazel Turner 46m:30s (205th), Mark Carlton 47m:33s (241st),Frances Hunt in a personal best of 50m:20s (306th) Brad Bunk crossed the line in exactly the same time in 307th position. Elodie Paviot, on home soil, finished in 51m:55s (335th), Jaclyn Kay recorded a personal best of 52m:00 (336th), Helen Weeden 56m:07s (415th), Simon Jackson 56m:25s (419th), John Fidge 57m:02s (427th) Lucy Johnstone in a personal best of 58m:03s (445th), Ann Fidge 1hr:00m:43s (506th) and Julie Foster 1hr:12m:41s (562nd) completed a successful day for the club.
Man v Mountain – Saturday 02nd September 2017
Jon Wells took on the impressively titled ‘Man V Mountain’ adventure race finishing 98th overall, 25th in category in a time of 4hr:59m:26s. The 22 mile course starts at sea level and weaves its way up to the summit of Snowdon, coming back down the other side into Dinorwic Quarry.
Ashford Parkrun – Saturday 02nd August 2017
Dan Green was first home for Ashford & District RRC finishing 2nd in a time of 18m:35s with fellow club members Paul Brasington in 21m:37s (17th), Edward Rodger 23m:00s (28th), Robert Carpenter 23m:14s (30th), James Chapman 23m:52s (37th), Will Whittington 25m:04s (56th), Claire Green 29m:00s (127th), Heather Johnston in a personal best of 29m:38s (137th), Becky Hodgson 32m:18s (164th) and Jeremy Chambers in 35m:14s (187th).
Parallel London 10k – Sunday 03rd September 2017
Jon Wiles completed the Parallel London 10k, held at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in a time of 48m:34s finishing 44th overall. The event is a fully inclusive fun run which caters for all ages and abilities. Jon was also representing the charity, Christmas for Kids.
Andover Trail Marathon – Sunday 03rd September 2017
Steve Hickman travelled to Hampshire for his 141st marathon. In the 2nd running of the Andover Trail Marathon, Hickman completed the hilly trail run in a time of 5hr:05m:28s, despite taking a detour at 21 miles due to a lack of signage.
Kent Coastal Marathon – Sunday 03rd September 2017
Rik Holden finished the Kent Coastal Marathon in 49th position overall and 13th in the Mens V40 category in a time of 3hr:55m:08s.
