Spring may be yet to reveal itself weather-wise, but it was certainly in the step of Ashford & District RRC’s members as evidenced by another week of great running.
Parkrun
The ever-popular Saturday morning Ashford Parkrun saw Emma Jenkins continue to make steady progress with a time of 36:22 whilst Matt Hardwick’s flying feet took him across the line in his fastest time this year of 22:11. Daniel Green notched up an impressive 19:43 seeing him first home in the V50 category. Darren Fagg took Parkrun ‘on tour’ to the flatter yet windy Hastings course where he ran a brilliant Parkrun PB, covering the 5k in 20:38.
SVN Mods and Rockers Marathon
At the other end of the distance scale, Rik Holden got his rock on to complete the fun themed SVN Mods and Rockers Marathon with a seriously good time of 3:26:34.
Paddock Wood Half Marathon
The flat course of the Paddock Wood Half Marathon offered A&D’s road runners the chance to shine, and they didn’t disappoint. Stuart Nunn smashed his PB by over 4 minutes to bag himself a superb time of 1:40:47…a testament to his structured training through the long winter months. James Booth’s winter of strong cross country running has also paid dividends. Out of the mud and onto the tarmac, James set a blistering PB time of 1:22:49.

Timed events are only part of the running scene and away from the world of timing chips and marshals, A&D’s members are putting in some serious training for events yet to come, returning from injury, or enjoying their running journey at the thrice weekly club runs. To all those we also give kudos.
