Kent League Cross Country – Saturday 10th February 2018
Ashford & District RRC travelled to Sparrows Den, Bromley for the final fixture of the Kent League season.
First up were the A&D ladies with Christine Costiff finishing 1st of the club in 24m:15s (48th), Gill O’ Connor was next up in 26m:38s (71st) and Lucy Johnstone finished the course in 28m:43s (85th). Overall, A&D ladies finished 14th out of 21 eligible teams in the 3 to score league with Dartford Harriers taking the title.
Meanwhile, in the men’s race, Robert Latala finished the 10k course in 8th position in a time of 35m:59s. Jon Pearce finished 2nd for the club in 39th position in a time of 39m:33s followed by Julius Samson in 42m:24s (67th), Dean Bracken in 44m:15s (91st), Paul Moses in 44m:59s (99th) just pipping Rob Barton to the line in 45m:02s (100th)
Next up was Richard Baker in 46m:54s (121st) with Ryan Edwards not far behind in 47m:46s (127th) and Scott Lynch chasing him down in 47m:53s (129th). Stuart Nunn crossed the line in 51m:25s (153rd), Mark Harrison in 52m:58s (158th) and Will Whittington in 1hr:01:38s (174th).
Overall, the A&D men’s team completed the season in 8th place in the 24 team 4 to score league which was eventually won by Medway & Maidstone AC and 6th in the 12 team 12 to score league with Tonbridge AC taking title.
Deal Half Marathon – Sunday 11th February 2018
An all-female team represented Ashford & District RRC at the undulating Deal Half Marathon on Sunday. Christine Costiff made it a weekend double by finishing 1st again for the club, 1st in category and 3rd female overall in 1hr:39m:36s. Lucy Johnstone finished next for the club in 2hrs:16m:46s (294th) followed by Becky Hodgson who took over 10 minutes off her previous best at this distance crossing the line in 2hrs:25m:50s (327th).
Ashford Parkrun – Saturday 10th February 2018
Despite a cold and icy morning 257 runners took part in the latest parkrun event.
Carl Ireland finished 1st for the club in a time of 21m:16s (22nd) followed by Mark Carlton in 21m:56s (28th) and Paul Brasington in 22m:01s (31st).
Gill Pragnell was 1st female home in a time of 22m:33s (38th) with Pat Butler following in 22m:34s (39th). James Chapman was next up in 23m:13s (47th), Sophie Edmonds followed with a personal best of 24m:51s (67th), Will Whittington in 26m:08s (88th), Mark Cleworth 26m:37s (101st), Andrew Smith 27m:30s (116th), Rod Kessack 30m:29s (168th), Becky Hodgson 32m:24s (187th) and Julie Foster in 40m:34s (233rd).
