Record Breaking Debut For Nick Collins
In his first marathon in Ashford and District colours Nick Collins ran a 2:36:38 at the Cheshire Elite Marathon. This incredibly fast time took the club record for the male veterans and was only just short of the seniors record. To offer some context to the pace at which Nick ran the marathon this is equivalent to running over 8 consecutive 19 minute park runs. A great time and reward for the hard work and dedicated preparation over many months for this event.
Marathon man Rik Holden ran 2 marathons in 3 days. He completed the St George’s Day marathon in 3:37:29 on Friday, and not knowing the meaning of, having a rest day, took on another marathon with over 1000 metres in elevation in a time of 4:13:28.
Daniel Head put in a shift at the Maverick Adidas Terex 23k. A tough hilly course compounded with Daniel coming back from injury to run a very respectable 2:21:31.
Becky Hodgson continued here love affair with the SVN events, and completed the half marathon in 3:11:25. A great return to racing in the company of friends and familiar faces from the SVN community.
Proving that runners can also ride bikes, Ashford and District ladies were well represented in the Kent Duathlon at Hole Park. Alison Waters led the A&D ladies home with 3rd place overall and winning her age category. A great result with Alison on who is on top form at the moment. Not far behind Alison was Aurelie Morris in 6th place and 4th in her age category. Training partner Tracey Calnan was 11th lady and 5th in her age category. When you see the mileage these athletes put in their training runs and bike rides it is easy to see how their hard work has reaped just rewards.
