Helen Weeden completed her 34th marathon at the picturesque Loch Ness marathon in Scotland on Sunday. Starting near Whitebridge, the course follows the southern side of Loch Ness, taking the runners into Inverness, crossing the River Ness into a city center finish at Bught park. On a tough and challenging course, Helen finished in a time of 4:23:56, finishing as the 341st lady, and 115th in her age category.
In the Robin Hood marathon on Sunday, Claire Green completed the course around the iconic sites of the city of Nottingham. Claire finished in an impressive time of 4:17:00.
On Sunday, the club had some excellent performances in the 11th running of the Folkestone Half marathon. Starting along the Leas in Folkestone, the course took the runners out along the seafront to Hythe, battling against a strong headwind until the turnaround point took the runners back along the seafront to Folkestone to the finish at the Leas, after first tackling the very tough Remembrance hill at mile 12. First home for the club was Robin Butler who came home in an excellent time of 1:29:33 to finish 15th, followed in by Richard Baker who ran a personal best time of 1:33:17 to finish 26th, and Richard Holden who finished 35th in a time of 1:35:33.
Ingvild Firth ran a new personal best time of 1:54:02 in the Windsor Half marathon on Sunday.
Two of the club’s runners took on the challenge of the Llyn Alven trail race on Sunday. On a very tough hilly off road course of 11.5km in North Wales and in wet conditions, Anthony Brown finished 12th in a time of 50:36 and Rhian Shrimplin finished 45th in a time of 56:29.
