Maverick Race Kent – Saturday 31st September 2017
Jon Wells won the 14km Mid-distance Maverick trail Race held within the grounds of Groombridge Place, near Tunbridge Wells in a time of 1hr:02m:46, 2m:35s ahead of his closest rivals.
Pyjamathon – Saturday 31st September 2017
Father and son, Steve and Ricky Hickman took part in the Pyjamathon event held in Surrey. The intriguingly titled race is a 6 hour timed event where runners, wearing Pyjamas rather than running gear, can complete as many or as few of the 3.28 mile laps of the out-and-back course along the river Thames. Ricky Hickman finished in 13th place overall completing 26.2 miles in 4hrs:30m:03s followed by Steve Hickman in 17thin a time of 4hrs:39m:57s.
Tonbridge Half Marathon – Sunday 1st October 2017
Anna-Lisa Stiffell took on the hilly Tonbridge Half Marathon and was rewarded with a 14 minute PB crossing the line in 1hr:48m:15s finishing in 248th place overall.
Sittingbourne 10 – Sunday 1st October 2017
Adrian Moody and Christine Costiff completed the undulating Sittingbourne 10 miler in rather wet conditions finishing in 1hr:12m:32s (70th) and 1hr:17m:46s (120th) respectively.
Ashford Parkrun – Saturday 31st September 2017
Ashford & District runners featured heavily in the top 10 at Parkrun Ashford this weekend with Trevor Kay winning the race emphatically in a time of 17m:47s, over a minute quicker than his closest competitor. Paul Moses and Rob Barton finished 5th & 6th in 19m:06s and 19m:11s respectively with Scott Lynch 19m:21s (8th) and Dean Bracken 19m:59s (10th) completing the top 10. Keith Haynes continued his good form in the lead up to the Givaudan 10k next week, narrowly missing out on a sub-20 minute finish in 20m:09s (12th) and Chris Boyce closely followed in 20m:13s (13th). Terry Sellen crossed the line in 22m:15s (36th) followed by James Chapman in a PB time of 22m:37s (38th), Rod Kessack 23m:05s (43rd) and the evergreen Pat Butler 23m:40s (51st). First lady home for the club was Elodie Paviot in 23m:51s (57th), Will Whittington 25m:34s (87th), Mark Attenborough 26m:41s (106th) with Sarah Homewood in 27m:15s (119th) and Lucy Johnstone 27m:39s (126th), both setting new PB’s. Ann Fidge 29m:26s (156th) and Jeremy Chambers, also with a personal best, finished in 32m:36s (170th) completing the line-up.
Meanwhile around the country, Stuart Nunn fresh from his marathon PB last week, finished 16th overall in Whitstable in a time of 21m:39s whilst Gill O’Connor finished 46th at the Riddlesdown parkrun, near Croydon in 23m:49s.
