Racing the Boston marathon (no, not THAT Boston) was Cris Francis whose PR took a battering when he romped home after 3:24:37 of toil on a warm, still day in Lincolnshire. Cris lopped over fourteen minutes off his previous best on the super flat course in ideal weather conditions.
Folkestone 10 Mile
On a beautiful sunny day many club members descended upon the coastal town of Folkestone for its annual ten-mile race along the pancake-flat sea wall. David Tomlinson had a great day out, beating his PB by 6 minutes to finish in 1:10:23. Linda Linda-Jean Delport ran a speedy race in 1:12:31 putting her way up the field. Richard Baker took the long way round, beginning his day with a fifteen-mile warmup before the race, which he completed in 1:21:03. Running a similar time was Tracy Tracey Calnan who finished her race in an impressive 1:20:47 while Peter Buckley enjoyed the warm weather and ran his race in 1:33:47. On his return to competitive racing following a break, and bagging a decent 40th place overall, was Scotty Lynch in his time of 1:05:07. Sandra Gooding enjoyed her race along the flat and fast course and recorded a time of 1:53:28. Alice Cook couldn’t wait to get back to her new house so ran a sprightly time of 1:13:49. Mark Attenborough took a break from ultra distance training to run his race in 1:19:20 while Gill Gill O’Connor blew away the competition to win her age group in a rapid time of 1:17:46. Defying the ageing process once again was Paul Moses who ran an impressive 1:04:28. His athletic frame was used as a windbreak most of the way by the cunning Paul Crisp who sneaked past in the latter stages to run 1:02:56. Not far behind was Julius Samson who spent much of the race pacing Scotty and finished in a solid 1:05:25. Final mention goes to Trevor Sparkes who battled the heat for 1:35:20 and finished with his trademark broad smile.

With the reward of Easter eggs on her mind Holly Forrest ran the Ashford Parkrun 32:56 in the sunshine. Helen Weeden ran her third fastest parkrun since 2017 with her time of 26:02 to finish in third place for her age category.
Emma Jenkins ran the Swanley Parkrun in a PB time of 39:18, enjoying the trail course almost as much as partner Will Whittington who tackled the looping course featuring several speedbumps in 28:15.
The Folkestone Parkrun offered Dan Green an opportunity to further impress with his rapid comeback which he grabbed with both hands as he finished in 19:05 for 11th place overall. Well done Dan!
At the Houghton Hall Parkrun in Dunstable, Ann Fidge and John enjoyed the crisp, sunny weather conditions to run excellent times. Ann finished 2nd in her age category in her fastest time over the course by two minutes of 28:55. John had a similarly successful run, finishing after 27:06 on the woodland paths.
