The club had a large turnout for the Podplus 3 lakes 5k, running in support of the chosen charity of the race, the local Motor Neurone Disease Association , which one of our members, Jan Hickman was diagnosed with last year. Jan, who has ran both marathon’s and ultra marathon’s for the club, showed great determination and courage to walk a mile of the course.
15 club members completed the race in the following order: Chris Boyce won in a time of 17:35, Rob Carpenter 5th in 20:14, Dean Bracken (dressed as Superman) 6th in 20:29, Scott Lynch (dressed as a chilli pepper) 7th in 20:36, Gill Pragnell 2nd lady in 21:10, Steve Hickman 26th in 23:59, Rhian Shrimplin 29th in 24:11, Lisa Bracken 30th in 24:17, Kirsty Farrant 24:28, Keith Haynes 25:13, Andrew Smith 26:17, Dawn Ayres 26:54, Colin Howard 26:54, Steve Wellsted 28:29 and Roger Barwick 34:19.
Several club members also competed in the Ashford Summer Series 5k and 10k the previous Friday. Chris Boyce came 3rd in the 5k in a time of 18:30 closely followed by Keith Haynes who finished 6th in 20:02. In the 10k event Dean Bracken finished 2nd in a time of 39:04, Anthony Brown was 7th in 43:25 (PB), Rhian Shrimplin was 1st lady in 47:39 (PB), Danyel Giles was 2nd lady in 48:28 (PB) and Kate Williams was 16th in 52:56!
