Three club members ran one of the toughest ultra marathons last weekend, the Race to the Stones. Starting in Oxfordshire, this 100k challenge is a challenging off road course that follows the oldest path in Britain, the Ridgeway and finishing at the 5,000 year old stone circle at Avebury. Steve Hickman and Neil Buckley came home together in a time of 16:51:44. Steve finishing 444th and 40th in his age category and Neil finishing 445th and 119th in his age category. Colin Howard stormed home on his debut in the race in an impressive time of 17:26:32 finishing 493rd and 51st in his age category.
Rachel Grout was first home for the club in the Les Golding Memorial 10k which is held along the seafront at Herne Bay. Rachel ran an impressive time of 49:11 and was the 14th lady finisher. Andrew Smith followed his impressive recent 10k runs at Charing and Folkestone with a time of 59:12.
Running past many of London’s famous landmarks, Anthony Brown and Rhian Shrimplin ran the British 10k on Sunday. Anthony finished in 47:43 and Rhian in another impressive 10k time of 48:52.
Last but no means least, Jon Wells achieved a top 10 finish in the Rye Summer classic series 10k on Friday. Jon finished 9th in a time of 41:34.
