Anthony Brown was the stand out performance in the Sittingbourne 10 mile race on Sunday. Running on an undulating course around the quiet country lanes outside Sittingbourne, Anthony broke his Pb as he went under 70 minutes for the first time in a 10 mile race, finishing in 51st place in a time of 69:01. Scott Lynch was the first club member home with a top 30 finish as he finished 27th in a time of 65:37. Rhian Shrimpton, after running a tough Folkestone half marathon the week before, ran well to finish in a time of 85:32.
Two club members ran the popular Tonbridge Half Marathon on Sunday. In a field of over 1000, and run on an undulating course around Tonbridge and the village of Leigh, Paul Brasington was first home for the club in 172nd place in a time of 1:40:27. Helen Weeden had a good race as she prepares to run the Dublin marathon later this month, finishing in a time of 2:03:18.
In the 100th running of the Ashford Park run on Saturday, the club had a large turnout for the event. First home for the club and in 2nd place, Paul Moses finished in a time of 19:07, closely followed home by Pat Butler in 4th place in 19:14 and Rob Carpenter in 6th place in 19:27. Scott Lynch was next home in 14th place and a time of 20:58 and Christine Costiff was the first lady home in 21:43. Steve Hickman finished in 23:49, Lisa Bracken was the 7th lady home in 24:18 and Sue Reader broke her Pb as she came home as the 13th lady in a excellent time of 26:15. Nigel Costiff was next in for the club as he came home in a time of 27:13, Keith Haynes finished in 27:55 and Andrew Smith completed the course in 30:25.
