In very hot conditions last Sunday, five of the club’s runners took part in the Staplehurst 10k, which this year was part of the Kent 10k Championship. First home for the club was Mark Attenborough, who after his excellent run at the London Marathon, was back to running shorter distances. Mark finished 87th overall and 9th in his age category as he came home in 41:50, followed home by Keith Haynes who finished 109th and 24th in his age category in a time of 42:50. Christine Costiff came home in 48:04 as she finished 5th in her age category, Rhian Shrimplin finished 11th in her age category in 48:18, and Stu Nunn, returning after injury, finished in 54:17.
Simon Jackson, first took part in the Westminster Mile last Sunday, as he finished the popular course in a time of 6:55, and then the next day he joined 9,000 other runners in the Vitality 10k, which finishes on the Mall in London. Simon had a strong run as he finished in a time of 52:23.
Neil Cloke, running his first race for the club, took part in the very tough Calderdale 50 miler in West Yorkshire on Saturday. Neil ran a superb race on a very hilly course, as he finished 3rd, only 30 seconds behind the second place finisher, in a time of 9:26:20.
