Sunday saw several club runners take part in one of the toughest marathons in the UK, the Steyning Stinger. Run on a very undulating and hilly course, including 4 very tough hills, in which the runners had to negotiate very muddy conditions along the South Downs between Worthing and Shoreham-by-the-Sea, Edward Rodger held off the challenge of Steve Hickman to come home as the first club runner in an impressive time on the very tough course, in 5:05:00. Steve was close behind, as he finished his 125th marathon in a time of 5:10:35, and Helen Weeden came home in a time of 5:43:21 in her 29th marathon and knocked off 17 minutes from her previous Steyning stinger marathon best.
Amanda Bashford took part in the Mill Hill marathon, which takes the runners along the bridleways and paths of Mill Hill and Totteridge in Hertfordshire, on a muddy and very hilly course. Amanda completed her 48th marathon in a time of 5:08:42.
