Training

The Club trains twice a week on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at Sandyacres from 7pm. The only exceptions are around Christmas and New Year.

A supervised warm-up/stretching session will be followed by a group run. Depending on the time of year and forthcoming events, sessions take the form of either speed work, hills or stamina building. During the summer we prefer to take advantage of our countryside location by using the nearby lanes and country paths whilst in the winter months we’re restricted to the town and surrounding area due to the availability of street lighting.

On Thursday evenings, there’s also the opportunity to take part in supervised fitness training sessions which take the form of circuits involving stretching and weight exercises.

In addition to the above Club nights, there’s also a track session on a Monday evening from 7pm at the Julie Rose Stadium. The cost is £3.60 and the session lasts roughly an hour including a warm-up and warm-down. All abilities are welcome to come and take part.

Occasionally when it doesn’t clash with a competitive race, some members opt for a run on a Sunday morning. The distance of these varies but are ideal if you want to stretch your legs and don’t want to run on your own. Speak to any of our members if you’re interested.

Lastly and most importantly, changing facilities and showers are available at the club on Tuesday and Thursday evenings whilst a well-stocked bar is also available to members on Thursdays.
