After the excellent performance of the club’s runners at the Brighton and London marathons, it was back to the shorter distances for those running over the last week. Monday saw five members take part in the Whitstable 10k which had a large field of over 750 runners. Starting at Tankerton slopes, and heading eastwards towards Hampton Pier, the runners had to contend with a strong wind as they headed back along the promenade towards the finish. First home for the club in 6th place overall was Cj Lattimer in an excellent time of 37:18, followed in by Paul Brasington who came home in 58th overall in a time of 44:04. Jo Faux finished as the 15th lady in the race in a time of 47:42, Simon Jackson produced a personal best as came home in 52:38, and Andrew Smith, only 2 weeks after running the Brighton Marathon, finished in 56:19.
Jon Wells took on the tough challenge of the Haywards Heath 10 mile race on Sunday. Starting in Victoria Park, the runners run a course which included some difficult off road and trail sections. Jon ran an excellent race to finish in a time of 1:10:45 and 55th place.
