A&D runners took to capital over the weekend.
Trevor Kay kicked off the weekend at the Hyde Park 5k on Friday night was rewarded with a personal best of 16:59 and a 14th place finish.
The South East Counties Athletics Association cross country championships were held at the iconic Parliament Hill Fields course in the capital on Saturday and A&D were represented by a team of seven runners. The A&D runners battled though the challenging conditions against the top teams in the south of England to finish a very creditable 66th place overall. Jon Pearce in 443rd with a time of 58:59 over the 15k course was the first club runner home. He’s was followed by Andrew Noble (640th) 1:02:22, Paul Moses (678th) 1:03:09, club cross country captain Adrian Moody with a strong run finished 687th in 1:03:16, Scott Lynch (754th) 1:04:29, Paul Ridley (790th) 1:05:09, and Adrian Beresford (1056th) 1:13:45.
The ever popular Canterbury 10 mile race saw the club out in force. Dan Green leading the A&D runners home to finish in 38th place with a time of 1:04:13 followed by Jon Wells showing superb form finishing in 46th place with 1:05:11. Scott Lynch followed up his cross country run on Saturday with a splendidly paced 1:08:47 to finish in 101st place and top 10 in his age category. Keith Haynes continuing his spell of strong running finished 108th with a time of 1:09:11. Another fine run from Becks Macey gave her a second place in her category with a personal best of over 4 minutes with 1:09:35. Paul Ridley also following on from the cross country championships finished in 126th place with 1:10:06. Mark Attenborough was close behind in 144th and a time of 1:11:08. Chris Costiff dominated her category with a very strong first place and time of 1:14:40. Adrian Beresford continues his recovery from injury and doubled up the cross country championship race with 283rd place and 1:17:28. Aaron Homewood finished in 491st place with 1:24:09. A solid run from Shaun Snowwolf Harris placed him 510th in 1:24:27. Stu Nunn was 588th running a time of 1:28:38, followed by Keith Lynn in 691st place with a very pleasing personal best time of 1:30:45. Alison Water (867th) ran a 1:35:49, Filiz Sarah (994th) 1:40:45, Sue Reader (1022nd) 1:41:45, Tyree Spicer (1043rd) 1:42:44, Lucy Johnstone (1132nd) 1:46:20, and Sarah Taylor (1157th) 1:47:27 all ran excellent races and ensured a great representation of A&D.
