On a weekend of glorious weather, there was plenty of glory being chased in various races across the land.
Making the most of Cornwall’s coastline, Christine Costiff challenged herself with a cliff-top route in the Polzeath 10k, finishing in 1:02:22 to take the age group title.
Richard Boakes was first home for the club in 40:37 as he continues his return to form. Next to finish was Stuart Nunn whose run brought him over the finish line in 47:56, followed soon after by Chris Field in a time of 52:51.
Allen Edwards worked hard around the hilly pinetum trail route to record 50:23.
Folkestone Race for Life 10k
Imogen Flack and Holly Forrest finished the charity race along Folkestone’s seafront in a joint time of 1:20:00. Well done, ladies.
Tenterden 5k and 10k
The busiest race of the weekend saw lots of impressive results by club members. In the 10k distance, Helen Weeden showed her continued dedication with a finish time of 56:33. Ann Fidge ran well in the hot weather to clock 1:00:35 while Faye Wills conquered the hour with her time of 59:19. Frazer Duncan ran hard to complete the fast course in 41:21. Aiden Gorham, who continues to impress with his front-running approach, walked away with silverware after taking the win with his time of 36:25. Congratulations on a well-deserved victory, Aiden! In the 5k event, men’s captain Adrian Beresford’s speedwork paid off as he ran 21:50. Peter Buckley completed his 5k in 26:52 in the warm weather.
Suzi Wicken took on Ashford’s Parkrun route and produced a fine time of 27:53. On his stoic march towards breaking that elusive 20-minute barrier, David Chappell missed his target by a scant twenty-six seconds and clocked 20:34. At the same course, David Tomlinson shook off the effects of a late night to run 19:43 marking his third personal best in six weeks. Holly Forrest, competing in the first of her two events for the weekend, finished in 32:30. Considerably further afield, Christine Costiff’s effort around the hilly Eden Project Parkrun saw her finishing in 23:20 for her warmup event prior to the 10k she raced the following day.
