Sunday saw a significant milestone for club president Steve Hickman. A return to home turf running the Isle of Wight Marathon saw Steve completing his 150th marathon in a time of 4:30:08. Steve was supported by friends from Ashford and District Road Running Club and Isle of Wight Road Runners.
Club members competing alongside Steve were, Aaron Homewood 4:21:11, Ed Rodger 4:41:34, Sarah Homewood 4:48:32, Helen Weeden 4:53:04 and Lucy Johnstone 5:01:27.
Kent Cross Country League Fixture 1 – October 13 2018
The start of the Kent County Athletics Association Cross Country League took Ashford and District runners to Beech Grove Academy, Nonnington.
Michael Davies inspired the team with first place in the Masters race with a time of 23:29.
The lady’s team was led home by Becks Macey in 23rd place completing the course in 22:06, followed by Rhian Shrimplin 24:24 , Christine Costiff 25:12, Gill O’Connor 26:10, Claire Green 27:04, Jaclyn Kay 28:12 and Lucy Johnstone 31:53 . In the senior women’s team league, Ashford now stand in 11th place and 8th in the ‘6’ to score league.
The first man home was Jon Pearce in 49th place with a time of 39:58, closely followed home by Trevor Kay, 40:22 in 53rd place and Tomasz Latala, 40:47 celebrating his birthday with a strong run to finish 61st place. Dan Green 41:25, completed the scoring in the senior men’s league placing Ashford and District in a respectable 7th place. Solid runs from Jon Wells, Andrew Noble, Julius Samson, Scott Lynch, Paul Moses, Paul Ridley, Rob Barton and Richard Baker gained points in the ‘12’ to score league giving Ashford and District 3rd place. On a difficult course club members, Adrian Moody, Mark Attenborough, Mark Harrison, Anthony Brown, Carl Ireland, Trevor Sparks and Adrian Beresford ensured the light blues had an impressive team presence and good foundation to build on for the rest of the season.

Ingvild Drake ran the Royal Parks Half Marathon in 1:50:24.
Paul Moses competed in the Chilham Sprint Duathlon in 01:30:56 and finished 6th overall and first in the V55 age category.
